As promised in my last blog, this post is going to give you an insight into the market of CR Park.     Bengali Residents of Delhi are proud to have the delightful Chittranjan Park market as the true ambassador of Bengali culture and tradition. The people of Bengal had been known for their unique taste and preference for food. "Fish curries" or "Macher jhol", "Mishti Doi", "Rasogolla" (sweet curd & puffy sweet balls) have become the brand and flag bearers of popular Bengali culture in India, even in overseas locations.

Their variety and the taste of sweets are too good to enjoy for any sweet loving person as well as Bengalis. I just love the spongy Rasogollas and earthen jar fulls of sweet curds. The best part is that the "Samosa" or "Singaras" (triangle potato stuffed muffins) sold at most of the sweet shops, are remarkable in taste. A bite of the taste of typically Bengali samosa would tell you the immediate difference between a common Delhi-wala and a Bengal made Samosa.

     There are innumerable food outlets at the C R Park market. They sell almost all the favourite Bengali fast food items starting from chops, cutlets, popular Bengali pakoras like phulluri, Beguni, Piyaji.

         The Speciality of the grocery shops in the market are characterised by the presence of almost all the popular local food item brands available in Kolkata. Bengali People who live outside Chittranjan Park throng at these shops to replenish the monthly stocks of  "Bulir- daler-bori" "Posto", "Kashundi", (Mustard Sauce), "Mukhorochok Chanachur" (Popular Bengali Dalmuths).

Even though i had thought of including the market of CR Park in my last post, I realized it would be unjustified. The variety and essence of the markets here are so enormous that I have decided to devote a few more posts to the various kinds of shops here.  The DVD Shop           One of the most prized shops =at the Chittranjan Park  market that took my attention was the DVD outlet, which had almost all the best collection of Bengali DVDs , VCDs and Music CDs. The shop really has a very good collection of Bengali collection of popular Rabindra Sangeet albums.
